|a Este artículo analiza diferentes elementos identitarios en diez textos escritos a partir de un corpus de grabaciones, el cual se realizó mediante entrevistas a distintos informantes del cantón de San Ramón, Alajuela, Costa Rica. Las historias están relacionadas con personajes como los duendes o las brujas y algunas apariciones de monstruos, almas u objetos mágicos. No obstante, a partir del análisis de los relatos se desprenden aspectos como la importancia de la religión, las costumbres de la época, las comidas, algunos hechos históricos relevantes en la historia del país, las formas de diversión, entre otros,que denotan diferentes manifestaciones culturales que caracterizan la historia de los pueblos rurales en la región occidental de Costa Rica.

|a This article analyzes different identitary elements in ten texts written from a corpus of recordings, which was carried out through interviews with different informants from the canton of San Ramón, Alajuela, Costa Rica. The stories are related to characters such as elves or witches and some appearances of monsters, souls or magical objects. However, from the analysis of the stories, aspects such as the importance of religion, customs of the time, meals, some historical facts relevant to the history of the country, forms of entertainment, among others, denote different cultural manifestations that characterize the history of rural towns in the western region of Costa Rica.
