|a El objetivo general de este artículo consiste en analizar la figura de María Isabel Carvajal, conocida como Carmen Lyra, escritora costarricense, desde su experiencia como militante de agrupaciones de izquierda. Para este fin, en primer lugar, se describe el contexto social, político, económico y cultural en el cual Lyra desarrolló su praxis literaria y política en relación con las luchas sociales en las que se incorporó. En segundo lugar, se estudian los reconocimientos póstumos brindados a esta costarricense. Finalmente, se aportan las principales conclusiones obtenidas a partir del análisis concatenado.

|a The general objective of this article is to analyze the figure of María Isabel Carvajal, known as Carmen Lyra, a Costa Rican writer, from her experience as a militant ofleftist groups. To this end, the social, political, economic, and cultural context in which Lyradeveloped her literary and political praxis about the social struggles in which she was in-corporated is described. Secondly, the posthumous recognitions given to this Costa Ricanare studied. Finally, the main conclusions obtained from the concatenated analysis are provided.
